The International Relations Council Association (IRCT) held the seventh of the Security Academy series, which has been held regularly since 2008 and has become a tradition, at the Ilgaz Mountain Resort Hotel on December 19-23, 2012. In the academy, where a total of 40 participants from different universities and official institutions of Turkey took part, presentations on different areas of security, as well as a film screening under the title of “Safety on the White Screen” and a security simulation that helped the participants to use the information they learned in theory in practice.
In addition to the presentations by academics in the training program supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, TUBITAK, BP Turkey and NATO Public Diplomacy Unit, T.R. Ambassador Ahmet Bülent Meriç, Director General of Security Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made a presentation on “International Security Issues and Turkey’s Policies” and NATO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Hüseyin Diriöz “NATO’s Changing Strategies and Turkey”. The issue of security in the media was discussed with the presentations of Muharrem Sarıkaya and Mithat Bereket.
